Today I wanted to bring a bit of a spotlight onto some of the new music available for Open Tournament thanks to contributions from musician HENRI VICTORIOUS. You can check out his track “Fauna” embedded here. I also encourage you to check out some of his other work on his SoundCloud or Spotify.
We also have a slew of other great tracks that have been contributed by artists like Mothership Loudspeakerz (and others!) who may be familiar to aficionados of Unreal’s soundscapes. Moving forward I’m going to be trying to spotlight a bit more of these individual artist contributions, both to give more credit to OT contributors and to help give more of a peek into what we’re building as we’re building it.
Broadcast Systems Online
As mentioned in an earlier dev log I now have dedicated hardware specifically for Open Tournament, and this is paying off in a big way when it comes to facilitating all aspects of development, even things you may not expect. In particular, I’m speaking of the impact on communication, outreach, and marketing.
As a game developer, I am primarily an engineer, but I also like to dabble across disciplines, whether that’s level design, audio, particle effects, 2D artwork — Games are amazing because they allow you to express your creative vision in a truly multimedia way. But one thing I’m not good at and don’t enjoy is self-promotion and marketing.
However, Open Tournament is all about engaging with the community, working with passionate fans and developers to make the best game possible. For a long time no one on the development team was working on communications or community outreach, making the project seem dead in the water from the outside. Investing into dedicated hardware has lowered at least one barrier, making it a lot simpler and more straightforward for me to monitor Open Tournament comms & social media without having to constantly micromanage accounts. If you ever reached out to us before and got nothing but dead air: Sorry! Try reaching out again, or I’ll get back to you once I make my way through the backlog.
Shameless Promotion
With all that said, Open Tournament is a small project. We don’t have Epic Games money, manpower, or time. So we need to strike a balance between actually building the game and getting the word out. That’s where you can help.
If you use any of the following services please consider giving us a like and follow there (as well as subscribing here on Substack) as this really helps spread the word and ultimately get Open Tournament into as many hands as possible.
We are also actively seeking your feedback from our community to understand how best to keep you informed. Please share your thoughts and suggestions on the best ways to spread the word.
Fast Forward
As always, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our community for your unwavering support and enthusiasm. Your involvement and feedback are the driving forces behind the success of the Open Tournament project. Together, we are shaping the future of our game.
Stay tuned for more updates soon, as there was just too much going on to fit in one post here! In the meantime I hope you’ll join us on our social media to stay connected.
Cheers,
Wail
